My kids, particular my middle two, love science experiments of just about any kind. I went searching through my neglected pinterest pins to find something to try. I have a habit of saving lots of cool things and then forgetting about them completely. Oops. I came across this simple experiment and had everything on hand.
I invited the kids to the table. I explained it like we were trying to bring our gummy worms back alive and make them dance. Elijah said it’s like zombie gummy worms, but I though Frankenstein worms were also fitting.
The kids helped me mix up the solution we nicknamed the “life juice”, and drop in the gummy worms.
After waiting for the timer it was time to put them into the vinegar and watch them dance. This part took more time than expected. We had to be patient.
It was decided they needed some dance music to get them dancing. Hailey said they’d dance when they liked the song. We adding more baking soda to watch the reaction and speed up the process.
Finally they started jiggling. Then they really started moving. Giggles began. The kids loved it. They had me put on different songs, and they swear the tummies moved differently for the various songs.
